Pediatric care asks children to do hard things every day.

Courage Works recognizes what they go through.

Courage Works helps children understand what’s happening, share how they’re feeling, and earn rewards for the tests, treatments and procedures they go through — creating moments of recognition, choice and something meaningful to look forward to.

A smiling child in a hospital bed supported by a parent and pediatric care professional, receiving recognition and Courage Points

So much of healthcare happens to a child.

Tests. Procedures. Treatments. New faces. For a child, medical care can mean having very little control over what happens next.

How it works

See the Courage Works experience in action.

The product stays with the child through the moments that matter. Explore the live experience as you move through the four parts of the journey.

01
PREPARE

Understand what’s coming.

Before a test or procedure, children can see clear, age-appropriate information about what will happen and choose what might help them through it.

In the app: upcoming care + preparation
02
SHARE

Every feeling belongs here.

Children can say how they’re actually feeling without being rewarded for staying calm, smiling or pretending they’re okay.

In the app: daily emotional check-in
03
RECOGNIZE

Celebrate what they got through.

Tests, treatments and procedures earn Courage Points for the hard things children are already experiencing — with recognition that feels meaningful in the moment.

04
REWARD

Move toward something they chose.

Points build toward a personally meaningful reward, giving the child choice and something positive to look forward to.

In the app: reward progress

A child can be scared and still be courageous.

Courage Works recognizes children for the care they’re already experiencing — not for being happy, staying calm or hiding how they feel.

Inside the child experience

A record of what they’ve gotten through.

Every test, procedure and treatment becomes part of a bigger story. In the child experience, My Journey gives children a visual record of the experiences they’ve moved through — recognition for each one, with no medical finish line.

Our story

Built from the other side of the hospital bed.

At 10, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and PSC. I spent years in pediatric care and received two liver transplants. Those experiences taught me how overwhelming it can be to be a child in the hospital — and how meaningful even small moments of agency can feel.
